2008 International Potato Industrial Technology Forum is held at Intertech Hotel on November 19. It is co-sponsored by Tianjin Municipal Rural Affair Commission, Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Tianjin Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, co-organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and International Potato Center.

Mr. Eerik Schipper, the representative of NIVAP gave a speech on Important Factors for a Strong and Innovative Potato Sector. Mr. Bo Tian, the member of Chinese Academy of Science gave a speech on Potato Degeneration and Virus-free Seed Potato Production. In addition, many experts from well-known universities, research institutes and enterprises gave reports from different aspects of the potato industry, such as, industry characteristics, technical progress and new development orientation and so on.
Many experts gave speeches on the forum. They are Dr. Kaiyun Xie, the representative of International Potato Center, Ms.Bingjun Wang, the professor of Tianjin Yangyu Biotechnology Company, Dr. Liping Jin, the senior research fellow of Institute of Vegetables and Flowers Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science; Mr. Kaisheng Xu, the vice president of Potato Committee of China National Food Industry Association, Mr. Bin Yu, the director of Beidahuang Potato Planting R&D Center, Ms. Yuling Ju, the senior technicial of Known-You (China) Co. Ltd. Shanghai Branch, Mr. Yihang Wang, the director of Potato Institute, Gansu Academy of Agricultural Science, Ms. Meilian Meng, the professor of Agricultural College, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. More than 100 domestic and foreign experts attended the Forum.
Some leaders of the institutions, research institutes, agencies attended the opening ceremony and the Forum.
